Reflecting on Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Changing Perspective
Fresno County has the highest domestic violence rates in California, with only 12% of cases involving married individuals. This challenges outdated views of abuse as a marital issue. Intimate partner violence increasingly affects younger individuals, with 13% of survivors aged 13–25 and 23% identifying as male.
The Marjaree Mason Center is addressing this crisis by opening a new $21 million facility to provide comprehensive services and prevention programs. Through community efforts and early intervention, Fresno is working to break generational cycles of abuse and build a safer future for all.

Teen Dating Violence In Our Community
Our community recently saw the third domestic violence homicide of a teenager in the last 14 months. This cannot continue. The Marjaree Mason Center urges the community to take action against teen dating violence by having conversations with the young people in their lives and equipping themselves on how to recognize red flags or warning signs.
