Volunteer at MMC

Are you looking for a way to make a lasting impact? Becoming a volunteer can be a rewarding experience for many people. Volunteers use their experience and talents in a variety of areas at the Marjaree Mason Center. From assisting with administrative and clerical duties, community outreach and education, or direct client services—volunteers play an important role. The Marjaree Mason Center appreciates the commitment our volunteers make to help others and the community at large.

The Marjaree Mason Center volunteer process differs slightly depending on how you would like to contribute your time.

  • Volunteers who have no contact with clients (i.e., administrative and clerical duties, community outreach and education) are required to (1) pass a background check and (2) complete hands-on training specific to the area they are helping.
  • Those who wish to provide direct services (i.e., general assistance in safe houses, hotline assistance), must complete a background check, drug test, and TB test, which are provided at no cost. These volunteers must also obtain certification as a Domestic Violence Counselor through Marjaree Mason Center’s 40-hour training at a reduced fee of $100. Volunteers are reimbursed after they fulfill 96 hours during a 6-month period. The 40-hour domestic violence counselor training provides a thorough overview of the cycle of violence pertaining to working with adults and children effected by trauma. Community members and professionals are also welcome to participate in the class to further career development and CEUS are available for MFT/LCSWs.

It is with the support of reliable volunteers that we are able to efficiently run the agency and affect the climate of domestic violence within Fresno County. There is still time to register for the next 40-hour Domestic Violence Counselor Training that begins June 6th at Clovis Police Department.
