So Much to be Thankful For

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect what we are thankful for and enjoy a wonderful holiday meal with the people we care about. But this is not the case for everyone. Celebrations like Thanksgiving can be considered luxuries for families experiencing domestic violence. Whether the home environment is not safe or not having the financial stability to purchase a meal, can make someone feel defeated in not being able to provide for their family. Fortunately, this will not be the case for some of our clients this year.

On behalf the MMC staff and our clients, we would like to send a big thanks to everyone who made Thanksgiving possible for our families!

Dutch Bros. generously hosted a Proceeds Day to raise funds to purchase meals and provided 70 meal boxes which contained a turkey, pie, rolls and all the fixings, and dropped them off with a big smile! Check out this video to see our Executive Director, Nicole Linder talk about how much we appreciate our partnership with Dutch Bros. and how important it is to provide meals to those we serve:

Knights of the Shield donated complete Thanksgiving meals for our Safe House clients, including a variety of delicious items for our clients to enjoy as they cook for the big day.

Eddie of Screens & Awning Inc. donated Thanksgiving meals including turkey, ham, pies along with all the fixings.

Fresno Fuego team, their captain, Milton Blanco, and their soccer camp kids delivered 16 turkeys for our families to enjoy.

New Harvest Church’s donated adorable decorated boxes by children which were filled with many canned good items.

Because of their hard work and dedication, we are excited to say over 100 families will be enjoying a bountiful Thanksgiving meal this year! Our clients were extremely grateful, in fact we'd like to share what they said:

“Upon being informed that we would be providing her a meal: “Are you serious right now? Nobody has ever done this for my family, thank you so much. I was stressed about what I was going to do for the kids- because I could not financially afford it. This means so much to us, thank you so much!”

“Oh my goodness…… I can’t thank you all enough; I did not think we were going to be able to have Thanksgiving this year.”

“Because of you my children are going to have a happy Thanksgiving- thank you all so much.”

Our clients’ words express how a kind act will bring wonderful Thanksgiving memories this year. We hope everyone has a safe and cheerful Thanksgiving holiday!
