A Day of Fun and Learning at the Central California Women's Conference
Marjaree Mason Center representatives attended the 29th annual Central California Women’s Conference (CCWC) on September 20th at the Fresno Convention Center & Entertainment Center. This year’s theme was “Living with No Limits.” The one-day event intends to serve women of all generations and cultural backgrounds through empowerment and education. Over 3,500 women attended this year’s event.
Throughout the day, CCWC attendees were able to attend educational seminars and visit with numerous vendors and organizations. Vendors included ABC 30, Fresno State, Community Regional Medical Center, and many more. MMC was one of several vendors with a display which included information on our services and volunteering opportunities. Those who stopped by our booth had the opportunity to purchase a $10 raffle ticket. One winner received two tickets to MMC’s Top Ten Event and a meet and greet with the keynote speaker, former Miss America, Kira Kazantsev which is taking place on October 14th.
Reporter and TV host Lisa Ling gave the keynote speech during the luncheon portion of the conference. Lisa is known for her time as a co-host on ABC’s show “The View”, a correspondent for the “Oprah Winfrey Show”, and most recent show “This Life with Lisa Ling” on CNN. The audience appeared enthused by Lisa who spoke of her many eye-opening experiences while news reporting throughout the world. Her inspiring message to live life with no limits even received a standing ovation from the audience. The last part of the afternoon included a Cool-down session hosted by comedian Kat Simmons.
Our agency was grateful to be a part of this year’s CCWC. All proceeds from the event go to help women and children in the community. The conference has donated more than $800,000 to local non-profit organizations. Last year, MMC was chosen as one of the recipients.
