Type: 103 - Full time regular, Part time, On-Call Positions
Reports To: Emergency Operations Manager


SUMMARY: Responsible for the shift specific responsibilities in the Emergency and/or Transitional living programs; hotline calls; client assessment; intake and orientation services of clients entering the shelter. Ongoing oversight of residential client/family activities during assigned shift and provides some Case Management support to clients. The CSA has primary and daily direct client interaction, support, and identification of immediate needs, issues or concerns. In this capacity the CSA must have excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to support operational rules, yet do so in a supportive manner with clients. It is also part of the position to make appropriate referrals of clients for substance use assessments, to provide daily advocacy support activities, and information and referral to intakes and others who contact the agency via the hotline. This position is also responsible for holding client workshops in the residential facility, in support of developing independent living skills and safe and healthy lifestyles for the residents. As appropriate, may also do community based workshops, outreach, support groups and community education.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversight and assistance with basic shelter activities with residential clients.
• Provide crisis intake assessments: walk-in and hot line calls. Complete intake and orientation paperwork/process with new clients, including drug testing and file creation.
• Works closely with the Case Management staff in client interaction and provides client support throughout the day, advising the CM staff of specific needs or concerns.
• Participate in CM Case staffing/family assessment meetings regarding residential clients/children, as scheduled.
• Complete ASQ's for residential children and assessments on residents of the shelter, as designated.
• Makes CPS reports as appropriate.
• Assist in daily plan of activities, special client events, donation organizing, meal support and food distribution.
• Organize & implement client/community workshops & support groups as an outreach to victims of DV and to educate others about DV.
• Organize/hold workshops in shelter to support independent living skills development and self-sufficiency goals.
• Transporting clients to community activities or appointments; and other client pickup / delivery tasks as assigned.
• Maintain positive community relations with other agencies, and law enforcement.
• Maintain facility upkeep; complete work orders for repairs as needed or directed.
• Prepare & maintain files in a confidential manner, charting behavior patterns & house activities.
• Volunteers are occasionally assigned to the Shelter; this position will offer training and support to these community participants.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in the field of human services preferred. Related experience accepted.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Bi-Lingual preferred.
• Knowledge of Referral System in Fresno County
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups or organizations.
• Ability to adapt to the environment, to solve practical problems, to deal with a variety of multiple variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and to make independent decisions within scope of responsibility.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Demonstrated ability to work with sensitivity and without discrimination towards peoples of diverse cultures, races/ethnicity's, socio/economic positions, ages, religions, genders, physical/mental challenges/disabilities and sexual orientations.
• Ability to understand the needs of families and women and children and a willingness to address their concerns with action designed to create change; sensitivity to issues pertaining to domestic violence.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Possession of a valid California driver's license and proof of liability insurance on personal auto. Must be insurable at all times at standard rate by set by MMC insurance carrier.
Must pass tuberculosis test, drug test and fingerprinting test.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
