Youth Education Specialist (Temporary)

Type:                           Temporary Part Time (20 hour per week) (anticipated end date June 15, 2018)

Status:                         Non-Exempt

Manager Title:             Director of Education and Training

Hourly Wage:              $11.00/hr.

SUMMARY:  Coordinates all aspects of the KNOW MORE Program on school sites.  Establishes strategic relationships with schools participating in the KNOW MORE Program and oversees program implementation to ensure achievement of program goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee the implementation of the KNOW MORE Program and objectives throughout affiliated schools.

  • Attend school site visits and provide support and feedback to KNOW MORE clubs.

  • Encourage and assist peer leaders and advisors with yearly recruitment as needed.

  • Assist with teen dating violence community presentations as needed.

  • Assist with planning and implementation of the annual KNOW MORE training. Collect and organize program documentation from school sites.

  • Maintain ongoing communication and positive relationships with all program partners.

  • Participate in KNOW MORE team meetings to ensure program success; assistance with special projects; continued program development and sustainability; reporting; data-entry.

  • Maintain Marjaree Mason Center and KNOW MORE policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years’ experience with KNOW MORE Program, preferred

  • High School Graduate

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong is a plus

  • Flexible hours that would include some evenings and weekends

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and proof of liability insurance on personal auto.Must be insurable at all times at standard rate by set by MMC insurance carrier.

  • Must pass tuberculosis test, drug test and background check.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee’s essential job functions.
