Donor Information Specialist

Category:       Regular, Full-Time (M-F)

FLA Status:         Non-Exempt

Reports To:          Director of Development

Summary: The Donor Information Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality of donor records for reporting and donor stewardship. Duties include accurate and timely processing of all donations, regular and ad-hoc reporting, and maintenance of Raiser’s Edge database for the agency. This position will promptly prepare and send all donor acknowledgments and reconcile donations with the Finance Department.

Essential Duties:

  • Input donations (monetary, in-kind, etc.) and accounts receivable in Raiser’s Edge system;

  • Produce thank you letters or notes for all donations;

  • Helps with database driven mailing and records activity using Raiser’s Edge;

  • Maintain high-degree database accuracy

  • Create reports and lists as requested by the MMC management team, using database queries;

  • Record and track donor commitments to MMC and prepare invoicing as required;

  • Suggests data and process improvement ideas to the Development Director to continuously develop improved procedures and processes;

  • Assist with the handling of payments related to attendance or donations for MMC events;

  • Make and answer phone calls as it pertains to fundraising campaigns or recurring donor activity;

  • Manages records, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Understanding of accounting concepts, gift entry, and fit acknowledgment requirements;
  • Demonstrated ability to be accurate working with cash, checks, credit cards;

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;

  • Strong customer service skills. Skilled at working with donors and staff on the phone and via email;

  • Ability to handle variable work volume and adjust accordingly;

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, attention to detail and an aptitude for logical thinking;

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and cooperative in a fast-pace, dynamic and sometimes, stressful, environment;

  • Proven ability to prioritize and work independently, responsibly and meet deadlines;

  • Demonstrate ability to analyze, interpret, summarize and present information effectively;

EDUCATION:

  • Associates’ degree or the equivalent education and experience.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with database management systems in a fundraising environment helpful.
  • Two years experience with Raiser’s Edge, preferred.

  • Two years of office experience in a related field
